Had the wings here and they were very good. Also tried a grilled chicken sandwich that was made perfectly, not too dry and the bun as nice and fresh. I only took a star away because of the smoking issue. Not nice to smell all that while trying to enjoy a meal..yuck Also the traffic was a bit of a bear, but that's not their fault, everyone built up around them!

Honey BBQ wings are to die for. Really all their wings are the best!! Also Friday's lunch they used to have Ribs. Great price meat falls off the bone! Yum. You can not go wrong eating here. Keep in mind it is a smokey bar but had the BEST food!!!

Great spot! Live band sung some old school hip hop songs. It was fun. I wish I remembered the name of our server but whoever she was, she was great. Very nice and attentive. Love this spot and me and my group of friends and family will definitely be back.

This place is a hole in the wall but OMG the food is amazing and so is the service. The food is a great and a good price, this is my new favorite place for lunch they have live music at night as well. I totally recommend it.

Very good food. Best BLT I've had. Good cheese fries. Good darts. I had a good time for a decent price. Go. You wont be sad you did.

A real local joint with delicious food. The fried grouper nuggets where huge! Live music played but was a bit too loud to hear ourselves talk so we sat outside.

Surprisingly good food. Nancy and her team are great. Love the $5.99 lunch fajitas. The biggest drawback is the smoking, and when people play crappy music on the jukebox. LOL. The owner should at least get some smoke eaters. It would make a Huge difference!

I love this bar. Great food and atmosphere. If you don't like cigarette smoke I wouldn't recommend it, but it's not that bad. Good price on food and beer. Great super bowl prizes.

Total dive bar, but the food is really good for a dive bar! They have good specials every night, fun trivia night on Thursdays. Only real downside, as others have mentioned, is the smoke smell.

Its a good local bar with a friendly staff. The Margaritas arent too bad. I recommend going on a Wednesday and getting the .45 cent wings!

I stopped in one day to meet a friend who lived close to this establishment. I was pleasantly surprised at the light and airy atmosphere. I loved that they had darts and other various games, I did not love the smoke. We went earlier in the day and weren't able to get any of the specials, but that was not a deal breaker. We had the wings and split on of the sandwiches, we were not disappointed. I have a special place in my heart for bone in chicken wings and would say that these were one of the better portions for price bargain's in town. The staff was friendly and welcoming, I never had to ask for a refill on my adult beverage, our waitress was most defiantly interested in us having a great time. The location is a bit interesting between the traffic on the Gandy and the track, but for a great spot to meet around the Gandy I or we will absolutely going again for food and happy hour.

I have driven past Kahuna's several times and have always wanted to stop in. After hearing they had fantastic wings, I decided to go in this past week and give their wings a whirl. I met my friend Jessica, who used to work there, and we enjoyed a nice and relaxing lunch filled with wings and good conversation. My friend told me that the Tim Harper Wings were the best. Named after a regular who enjoyed eating his wings this way, Tim Harper wings are fried, tossed in hot sauce, grilled then tossed in Jerk seasoning. They sounded incredible and believe me, they were! Their wings were so delicious that I did not need any dressing to dip them in. Simple and tasty, they won me over. Although I only spent an hour at Kahuna's, I got a great taste of what their food is like and am anxious to return when I have more time and can enjoy an adult beverage. From what I could see today, Kahuna's is an iconic spot on Gandy and has a very loyal following. The only thing I am not a fan of is the smoking inside but I can deal with that for another taste of their fantastic wings. I will be back!

I call it the iron lung. The smokers to non smokers ratio is.....what am I talking about there are no non smokers. UPDATE: I had to come back and upgrade from a 1 Star to a 3 Star for the following reasons: 1. I am a big fan of wings and w/o a doubt, Kahuna's has the best wings. . .hands down! 2. Their BLT is AMAZING. Not just good, but AMAZING. Not often that one is "wow'ed" by a BLT. . . . this is definitely a WOW BLT

Are you walking distance from Derby Lane? Do you care for HH specials? What about menu specials? If you've answered 'yes' to all three questions, you must be... me! I couldn't help but notice the $1.39 burger specials posted on their advertising board alongside the Gandy that I HAD to walk over and see what it was all about. So in my haste, I didn't realize the burger special had time restraints. (7-9p on Tuesdays - let this be clear) I only realized this as I was walking up to check it out. Dammit for getting there at 630p. But wait! HH is every day. Let me repeat... HH is EVERY day! from 2-7p. I was in luck. So I plopped my rear onto a bar stool and got myself a pint of Shock Top. For $2.50... hell, I'll have another before 7p rolls around. I ordered my food and left with a tab less than $8! No stumbling out this time. But I will have to plug the awesomeness to some local friends to make this a frequent occurrence on a Tuesday evening after work. PS. This place is REALLY dive-y. Like smoke indoors and the place reeks of cigarette. Sit outside if that bothers you.

I'm at work so I'll keep this short and sweet: The food is good, the prices are great, and the atmosphere is hazy with a chance of bar-fight... I'm not sure how often I'd go here if my girl weren't living fifty feet away, but I'll be a regular until that lease is up.

My wife and I went here on a whim a few weeks ago. The place was packed so that was a good sign. We walked inside and we got a big cloud of smoke. Very disappointing. We elected to sit outside and ordered our meals. I was pleasantly surprised. If the smoking wasn't permitted, we would have gone back already.

Wings fans! This place has the best buffalo wings in pinellas county. Hot buffalo are my favorite. Skip the medium sauce and go hot.Medium is like teriyaki with a kick. The honey barbecue is good too if u dont like spicy. The place is a bit smokey but get carry out. its worth it. Nice people too. Hard to find good people these days in the service industry.

Kahuna's has great sea food dishes. They have beachside feel. The location is great too because they are so close to the beach. It's a nice place to hangout.

Love this place. Great food (you will be pleasantly surprised). The service is great. Only downside is you will leave smelling like smoke as this is a smoking bar. This is a regular spot for the locals. Good weekday deals to check out if you want good food at an affordable price. Try the wings, the patty melt and the lunch fajitas -- yummers!

The food is actually surprisingly good. They often have specials as outlined here: kahunasbarandgrill.com/w… My roommate and I regularly go for $1.39 burger night on Tuesday nights and sit outside because it is too smokey inside. We end up staying there for a few hours and drinking awhile and just hanging out. Our regular waitress, Jessica, is very nice and knows our order as soon as we get there, and have only been there 4 or 5 times. This place is definitely not for everyone, but if you like cheap/good food, and it's a decent day out, sit outside and get something to eat and drink some beers. Amazingly enough, their fajita's are actually pretty damn good. Definitely a local's place though.

Don't be scared. Food is indeed good. Unless you fear a smoky bar, this place is a great local gang out and is surprisingly busy almost every day. Prepare to rub elbows with business people, dog track employees, locals, bikers, restaurant employees an a whole host of others!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
